Open World is part of a digital installation at the Tate Modern this weekend (17th - 19th June)
My new book, Open World, is now available to purchase from www.olliema.com/open-world-photobook
The book is entirely handmade and printed by myself. It is 20x18cm and contains 20 photographs. It is also limited to an edition of 10, so if you want one, get one soon in order to avoid disappointment.
‘In contemporary society, the digital world pervades the physical to such an extent that any distinction between the two is obsolete. The simulated environments of open world video games illustrate the interchangeability between the virtual and the everyday.’
From ‘Open World’
In contemporary society, the digital world pervades the physical to such an extent that any distinction between the two is obsolete; our virtual lives are an inseparable aspect of the everyday.

Q
jamelalatise asked:
In terms of creating your book, what was the creative process like? Did you seek out specific printers? Select the materials and specific paper weight? Thanks!
A
The creative process involved a lot of rearranging photographs, printing mock-ups, and learning from mistakes. Physically making a book was a big learning curve for me.
I printed the book myself, because I like how my printer renders images. I wanted to print on lustre paper, and found an Ilford, double-sided paper that seems to be the perfect weight for a book.
